French Footballers Interrogated Over Under-Age Sex Allegations

French Footballers Interrogated Over Under-Age Sex Allegations-International Footballers Franck Ribery, 27, and Karim Benzema, 22, have been detained for interrogation. The two players were allegedly involved in paying sex with a minor.
The footballers were held at the request of an investigating magistrate looking into allegations that Champs Elysees nightclub gave access to minors working as prostitutes.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid players have denied the allegations through their lawyer.
The two were freed after interrogations on Tueday.
One of the minor prostitutes claimed that she was paid for sex by the two players in 2009. But Zahia Dehar asserted that she never revealed her age either to Ribery or Benzema.
In France the general age of consent is 15 years old, but in the case of prostitution a young person remains legally a minor until he or she reaches 18. For those who paid sex with a minor is punishable by three years of imprisonment and a penalty of 45, 000 euros. But only if it was proven that the accused knew that she was minor.
