Argentina Catholic Church Protests Against Gay Marriage-The Catholic Church in Argentina rallies against gay marriage. An estimated 10, 000 people joined the anti-gay marriage demonstration outside the Congress in Buenos Aires.

This bill has been approved last May in the lower chamber. But the Senate is expected to vote on Wednesday.

Reportedly, 91 percent of Argentina’s population is Catholic. But if the Senate will approve the proposed bill on Wednesday, this will be the first Latin American country to pass a law legalizing marriage between same-sex couples.

Placards are scattered among the protesters held up reading, “We want a daddy and a mommy,” “Say yes to the real family.” The Roman Catholic Church officials have branded this project “the devil.”

But groups of pro-gay marriage demonstrators also gathered at Buenos Aires’ banging pots and blowing vuvuzelas, a campaign for equality by Argentina’s Anti-discrimination Institute, Inadi.
