Paul the Octopus “Psychic” Predicts Spain to Win the World Cup-Would you believe that an octopus could predict the World Cup Champion? Maybe, many are skeptical about this. But this has been proven when Paul the “psychic” octopus predicted that Germany will win against Uruguay in the third place match, which is true. So far, Paul’s predictions in World Cup are correct.
The Octopus predicted that Spain will win against Netherlands in the World Cup final. Paul picks the box with the flag of Spain.
Paul has become an international celebrity because of his predictions.
His forecast of South Africa’s World Cup final has been relayed on satellite television around the world. Paul is reported to have correctly chosen the box with the flag of the winning team in five of Germany’s six matches in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, including a shock defeat by Serbia in the group stages and the ousting by Spain on Wednesday.
After that defeat, there were calls in Germany for Paul to be roasted. But his owners said on Thursday that Paul is safe with them.
The Sea Life’s Tanja Munzig assures that nothing is going to happen even if Paul’s prediction is wrong.
His owner says that Paul’s record isn’t perfect. Paul got it wrong in about 30% of Germany’s games during the 2008 European Championship, including their loss to Spain in the final.
Paul was unable to comment on the matter, mainly due to the fact that as an Octopus he doesn’t have the ability to speak.
